French Broad River section 11 (This Saturday/December 12th) (Planning a Trip)

by tellicoee @, South Knoxville, Sunday, December 06, 2015, 18:04 (653 days ago)

The National Weather Service forecasts temps. to be almost 70 degrees this Saturday and sunny weather!! French Broad section 11 has GREAT wave trains and a few nice ledges and a couple of rock garden rapids. It is class II-II+ with a couple of easy class III's. The location is 55 minutes from Knoxville--all good highways.

Although it will be in the upper 60's and sunny, you will still need your cold weather gear to make for an enjoyable trip. All the required whitewater gear is also required. This is a 6 mile trip and has an easy shuttle. We are meeting at the cracker barrel at strawberry plains exit off I-40 to carpool at 10:00am sharp. The flow is great and should hold nicely for Saturday. Above 1,000 is ideal and below 3,500 is much safer. The scenery, rapids, water temp, weather, and easy access are really hard to pass up!
This will be another great trip!

Let me know if you plan to attend. Contact me or see Knoxville on the Water Meetup for more information or if you have any questions.
