July 17 paddling Trip Report (General Discussion)
This past Saturday about 20 paddlers met for the ETWC paddling trip on the Nantahala. We had about 5 novice paddlers and 13 experienced boaters along for the trip. Our boats consisted of 2 canoes, 2 funyaks, and about 14 kayaks. The Novice paddlers were a strong group! We only had a couple of swims and I thought everyone did great on the river! My thanks go out to all the experienced boaters who came out to paddle with us and to help with the novice paddlers! Thanks to Joe, Shipley, Rick, Bill, and Club President Ariana. Special thanks to Billy Bob for agreeing to guide our group down the river and to Sam who agreed to sweep paddle in order to keep our big group together! I also thank David Fox for standing by with a rope below Pattons just in case we needed it. Fortunately, everyone made a great run down pattons!
I had a great time on this trip! Activity at Nantahala falls was as entertaining as ever! For those of you (at least 5 of you sent me e-mails but did not show) who did not make it to the Nantahala, you missed a great day on the river paddling with a great group! I hope to paddle with all you guys and gals again on future trips!
July 17 paddling Trip Report
Well, I certainly want to add my thanks to everyone who had a hand in organizing and/or otherwise facilitating a great paddling trip. This kayaking stuff is some serious fun.... and, I feel like I may be getting younger... ( hold your tongue )
