Grant application (Club or Forum Announcement)
American Whitewater and Clif Bar will fund two projects for $1,250 each. Grants will be given to clubs for projects that promote river stewardship, conservation, access and/or safety education on America's rivers. Grant applications will have to be submitted by 07/31/2010.
This is a very short time to get a proposal together (two-page narrative, timeline, budget, potential matching funds) but if any of you guys have a great idea for a project, let me know ... we might be able to put something together.

The Canoe Fest might be a good cause but I don't think it is a white water activity and will probably have very little chance to get funded.
We are looking for an education/safety/conservation white water project. I am guessing that it should also be something more permanent than a single event we repeat every year. We need something with a positive impact on the community.

I checked into possible conservation projects for the grant. I spoke with Tennessee Clean Water Network and the National Forest Service at the Obed, in hopes that they might have something in mind, and they both said that $1,250 is really only enough for a river clean up day. Do we want to move forward, and apply for the grant for a river clean up day? If so, does anyone have a river in mind?
Best,
John

The Wartburg ranger station organizes the Clear Creek clean up every year and we participate. Chota had a Tellico clean up day not too long ago ...
We don't have to apply for the grant only if somebody has a project that fits. Just to throw something out there: building a new put in or take out, where money is required to rent a bobcat or maybe for building material ...
