Nantahala beginner's trip Satuurday July 1 (Planning a Trip)

by zinggds @, Wednesday, June 28, 2017, 19:39 (209 days ago)

This weekend's beginner's trip will take place on the Nantahala River. The trip leader is Sam Suffern. The plan is to meet at Fort Sanders West at 8:00 AM to consolidate and carpool to the Nantahala; alternately we can connect at the NOC at 10:30 or at the Patton's Run put-in at 11:00.

Facts to know about the Nantahala 1) the water is cold (similar in temperature to the Hiwassee) but the paddling is mostly in the shade so it seems much colder than the Hiwasse, you need to dress appropriately. A river pass is required to paddle the river, cost is $1.00 for the day or $5.00 for the season and they are available at the NOC. Finally, if you are going to participate in the carpool from Fort Sanders West traditionally we eat dinner at the NOC after paddling so we get back to Knoxville relatively late (~8:30).

If you plan to attend we need to know, either respond to this post or contact Sam directly by e-mail ( or via mobile phone (8 six five 8 five zero eight three two one). Sam can also be contacted if you have additional questions.

Hope to see you this weekend
